Who We Are
The National Currency Foundation (aka NC Foundation or NCF) was established in June of 2011 as a New York State Charitable Organization.
In August of 2012, the NCF was granted 501(c)(3) status by the IRS. We are a non-profit operating foundation.We strive to educate the public, the novice and advanced collector, and career numismatists. Visitors have access to several resources including: Web-based displays and exhibits prepared by currency collectors and dealers, live exhibits at selected major currency shows, reprints of currency-related articles and original written works, and The National Bank Note Census. We are also very proud to announce that we will be publishing (on line) The Encyclopedia of National Bank Notes by Peter Huntoon.
This encyclopedia is currently over 80 chapters with illustrations.

Bank Note Census
The Census (The Hickman Project) is an ongoing project aimed at providing the most comprehensive National Bank Note information to members of the numismatic field. With over 360,000 individual records, comprehensive national bank issuance data, and both image and auction archives, this newest electronic version of the census includes search features and reference information never before available in an electronic currency database.
What We Do
The central mission of the NCF is to educate the public and promote the field of numismatics, in particular the collecting of paper money. This includes, but is not limited to, National Bank Notes (large & small), Type Notes (large & small), Fractional Notes, Obsolete Notes, Early American Notes (e.g., Colonial & Continental), Military Payment Certificates, Proofs of any of the above notes. We provide support and sponsorship for public numismatic seminars and speaker series to be held in conjunction with regional and national conventions. We provide funding for scholarly research in the field of United States paper currency as well as selected numismatic exhibits presented at national conventions. We also provide educational and research resources for the general public, collectors, and dealers in the field, and we house the most updated/recent version of the National Bank Note Census.
